Definition: Cyber Monday

What is Cyber Monday?

Cyber Monday is a big online shopping holiday that takes place in America on the Monday after Thanksgiving.

Retailers promote Cyber Monday with extensive discounts, deals and online specials on various platforms such as company websites, marketplaces and social media. With many workers having the day after Thanksgiving off, Cyber Monday provides a convenient opportunity to find digital and mobile deals from home or work. Discounted products include a variety of items such as electronics, clothing, home goods, toys and more from major brands. The day marks the culmination of the Christmas deals that began on Black Friday, which takes place a few days earlier.

Just like Black Friday, Cyber Monday has proven to be very popular with shoppers. In 2023, Cyber Monday sales in the US totalled USD 12.4 billion, up 9.6% on the previous year and surpassing Black Friday sales of USD 9.8 billion, which rose by 7.5%. It has now become one of the biggest online shopping days for eCommerce, not only in the USA but worldwide.
